Hello Blog!
So I've been neglecting this blog lately and not because I'm getting tired of blogging but because, I can't find the time anymore! We've been going 100 mph these days and loving every minute of it. Since the last blog post we've traveled to South Africa for our first Safari experience and toured a bit of Cape Town along the way. My buddy Tim, from Lafayette who now lives in Amsterdam, visited us for a weekend and currently the in-laws are in town. I will definitely blog in more detail about all of the above as soon as I get a chance. Right now, we're just enjoying spending time with the parents and showing them our life in Scotland. The X3 will be getting lots of miles in the next 10 days! Hope everyone is doing well and know that I miss you all very much! Enjoy your weekend.

Run Balmoral 10K
I thought I would have more time to run and keep fit while in Aberdeen but I was wrong! Life has been moving by so fast and I'm still struggling to find time to focus on working out. Anyhow, despite very little training, I ran my first 10K in Scotland at the Balmoral Run. The run took place on the Balmoral Castle grounds on off road trails. I've never ran a race off road before so this was a nice change from the typical concrete pavement. The weather was miserable, cold and rainy and I was just not prepared but was determined to go out and have a good time. There's "the hill" everyone talks about on this race course and I didn't think too much of it until I saw it! The description on the website says:

The early part of the course is relatively fast on smooth tarmac, however from approximately 3.5K the course rises quite steeply up through woods of Garmaddieon the estate tracks for approximately 1.2K!
So yah, when I got to this point, I tried running up the hill but just couldn't. Another girl was walking up as well so being the social butterfly that I am, I started chatting her up and eventually found a running partner! hehe... We kept each other company up the hill and ran the rest of the race together. The scenery on the course was nice and having a running buddy made it even better!
I've started to enjoy running again so hopefully I can keep it up.
