Saturday morning, we headed off to Preikestolen a.k.a. Pulpit Rock for one of the best hikes I've ever done! From the Reynold's place, we drove for about 45 minutes to catch a 10 minute ferry ride across the sea and then another 30 minutes drive to the base of the hike. Unlike Scotland, it's not cheap to hike in Norway, well at least this one wasn't. With the ferry rides across and the car park fee, I think we paid about $100 bucks to do this hike. Anyhow, it was so worth it, a lot of up and downs and climbing rocks but manageable. There were elderly people, kids, people who looked out of shape, and even little westies hiking here. Some people weren't even dressed appropriately; hiking in flip flops or wooden clogs? No thanks. It was also one of the most crowded hikes I've ever done. Dodging people was a challenge when you're trying to concentrate climbing up and down rocks without falling. We hiked 8km roundtrip and up a total elevation gain of 300 meters in about 3.5 hours. It was fun!
Afterwards, we found a nice spot to grill some Norwegian hotdogs, soak up some sun, and relax.
We were all pretty tired the next morning so took it easy with some light fishing along one of the fjords. I didn't do any fishing but had fun taking pictures =) Such a relaxing spot. In Norway, you can fish in any sea water without a permit, which is the total opposite of Scotland.
It was about time for us to go home so we headed to the Candle Factory for a typical Norwegian meal and ice cream; the perfect ending to our wonderful weekend.
Thanks to Emily and Tyler for showing us around!
