We arrived in Chiang Mai, Thailand to a warm greeting at Joy's House. Joy's house is a guesthouse that is partnered with the Children's Shelter foundation here in Chiang Mai. They help provide a home, education, and internship to the less fortunate local and hill tribe children's. It was partially founded by a German women so there are quite a few Germans staying here.
We dropped off our bags and headed straight to Doi Suthep temple for sunset. The temple is a sacred place for the people in the Chiang Mai area. We learned all the traditional
Thai custom and even participated in some. They are very similar to Cambodian customs.
Afterwards we had a nice welcoming dinner at Joy's House with some of the other guest. After dinner, a few of the Germans wanted to check out the night market so we went along with them. To reward ourselves at the end of the night, we all got foot massages. Well, everyone but me...I opted for the $2 back, neck and head massage:) Thai massages are indeed cheap!
That's a wrap for our first night in Chiang Mai.
